I am highly delighted to give some introductory remarks in our maiden Website, as it is our first formal entry into the global community through the Internet. In Little Gems Montessori Model School, we are God fearing and therefore we put Him first in all we do. Our Gems, being the reason for the School, therefore come after God and all others follow. We have a very cordial relationship between the children, parents and staff and pride ourselves with the slogan, ‘Happy Family School’.

A little history…Little Gems Montessori Model School, Gwagwalada, Abuja, opened its wall to the first set of pupils in January 15 2007 with less than 15 Gems. This was the culmination of years of dreams, aspirations and planning by the visionary founder, late Mrs Bridget Obehioye Eguabor with full backing by her husband, Mr Victor Eguabor, now the Director, and support by her sister late Mrs Stella Esezobo and encouragement from her sister, Rev. Sister Assumpta Ebhomielen, EHJ.

Perhaps at this stage it is appropriate to go down memory lane with words of the founder late Mrs Bridget O. Eguabor. “The idea to start a school was hinted by the former Principal of Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos Mr M. M. Ojutiku. Having taught for many years under him before my voluntary retirement in 1999 to join my husband in Abuja, Mr Ojutiku suggested that I should start a Nursery/Primary School in Abuja. That set the ball rolling. I asked a friend who owned a school in Lagos about what it entailed and she directed me to Heritage House Montessori, Yaba, Lagos to be trained in Montessori Education. It was an eye opening experience as I was ushered into a different world of Early Childhood Education. I was fascinated by this wonderful method of Early Childhood Education that I said ‘either this method or nothing’. After some years of praying, the idea metamorphosed into Little Gems Montessori Model School, in January, 2007. I must give kudos to my able husband and Mr and Mrs Lawrence Esezobo who provided the initial funding.”

Thus the little seed planted many years ago has become the giant tree.

We have a crop of dedicated and well trained academic and non-academic staff as well as supportive parents to foster a positive academically enriching and conducive learning environment to make the dream come true. Our doors are always open and welcome to ideas from interested stakeholders.
